Shoal Group awarded funding under the Defence Industry Development Grants Program

Shoal Group has been awarded funding under the Australian Government’s Defence Industry Development Grants (DIDG) Program, supporting the development of Australia’s sovereign defence capability. Shoal has received funding to develop workforce capability in formal project management, strengthening business performance and ensuring alignment with Sovereign Defence Industrial Priorities.

The grant has enabled Shoal to accelerate development of mid‑career professionals and emerging leaders, many of whom work directly on Defence programs. This uplift not only enhances project outcomes but also contributes to Australia’s broader objective of strengthening its sovereign defence industrial base.

Deeply embedded within Australia’s defence ecosystem, Shoal has contributed to major Defence programs for 25 years. Working as both a prime and subcontractor across various Commonwealth contracts and panels, Shoal invests in internal workforce development to ensure alignment with Defence’s evolving needs. Amongst Shoal’s current defence work, the company is providing regulatory support under the SSN‑AUKUS program and helping to develop digital engineering strategies for Defence clients.

The DIDG Program provides funding for small and medium enterprises to build sovereign capability, global competitiveness, technical superiority and national security. The Minister for Defence Industry announced on Friday that more than $17 million has been allocated to 44 Australian businesses in the latest rounds of the DIDG Program, including a grant to Shoal of $5,139.
