Australian space regulatory paper accepted for 13th International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS) Conference

We are proud to share that our joint paper has been accepted for presentation at the 13th International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS) Conference which will be held in Prague, Czechia from 8 to 10 October 2024. The paper is co-authored by Shoal Group, Asia Pacific Aerospace Consultants and representatives of the Australian Space Agency.
With the conference theme being ‘Building a safe, secure, and sustainable space’, the joint paper is focused on the safety aspects of the Australian space regulatory framework. Titled the ‘Implementation of modernised Australian space activities regulatory framework: Ensuring risk-based safety assessments, adaptable for a burgeoning space launch environment,’ the paper discusses the challenges and the opportunities of establishing new space launch and returns regulations in Australia. It reviews the changes made since initial establishment and will discuss lessons learned from the initial applications under the legislation and review potential initiatives for improvement in the future.
