At Shoal the position of Senior Principal Systems Engineer is invite-only. It reflects an exceptional depth and breadth of experience in the individual and true pre-eminence in their field.
Dr Derek Rogers, who joined Shoal nearly a year ago having had a distinguished career working for a number of defence industry primes, was invited to become a Senior Principal Systems Engineer by our Chief Engineer, Kevin Robinson.

The invitation was assessed by Jon Hallet, also a Senior Principal Systems Engineer, and Professor Stephen Cook. “We were very impressed with the level contribution made by Derek at the national level – it made the decision very straightforward” said Kevin. “Derek has made considerable engineering contributions across Shoal, its broader ecosystem, and the Systems Engineering profession nationally and internationally”.
We would like to thank and acknowledge Derek’s extraordinary and valuable contributions to Shoal and to the systems engineering community nationally and more broadly. As Albert Einstein said, we in Shoal ‘Strive not to be a success, but rather be of value’.
Thank you and congratulations Derek.
