Shoal’s CEO to chair sessions at AIAA ASCEND space technology conference
Shoal Group’s Founder and CEO, Shaun Wilson, will be chairing three sessions at the 2025 ASCEND conference this week, the global space forum hosted by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Held in Las Vegas and co-located with the AIAA Aviation Forum, the event brings together over 4000 participants from around the world, including engineers, researchers, academics, policy makers and industry executives.
Shaun will be chairing the following sessions:
- Governance of Space Activities
- Space Situational Awareness Technologies
- Systems Engineering for Mission and Technology Management.
As a life member of the AIAA and a member of its Space Systems Technical Committee, Shaun’s selection as Chair reflects his standing in the global space community and contribution to advancing space systems thinking. Shaun has formerly held positions of Director, Australian Space Research Institute, Chair of Engineers Australia’s National Committee on Space Engineering, Advisory Council Member of the Space Industry Association of Australia, and Deputy President and President of the Systems Engineering Society of Australia.
He has also fostered Shoal’s leading role in the Australian space industry. From helping to manage launch risk and safety, to the design of advanced satellite systems and decision support tools for mission planning, Shoal continues to shape the future of space technology, supporting government and industry. One of the earliest members of the Australian Space Agency’s Support Services Panel and a founding member of the SmartSat CRC, Shoal continues to solve complex space challenges and is now growing its space capability internationally.
