Researcher joins Shoal through DSTO Industry Placement Initiative

Shoal is pleased to welcome to its team Mr Garth De Visser, an Operations Research Analyst from the Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) under the Chief Defence Scientist’s Industry Placement Initiative.

Garth (left) shown below with Shoal’s Chief Systems Engineer, Dr David Harvey (right), will join Shoal for two years to both broaden his experience and lend his research expertise.

Garth holds a Master of Science (Defence Operations Research) degree through the University of New South Wales along with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) (Honours) degree from Flinders University. He has previously served as an engineering officer with the Royal Australian Navy.

Garth is the second DSTO researcher placed with industry under the Industry Placement Initiative which was launched by Assistant Minister for Defence, Stuart Robert MP, in February 2014 with Shoal also being the first company to accept a DSTO researcher. Shoal looks forward to the continuing success of the initiative and to deepening our longstanding relationship with DSTO.
