Shoal attendance at 2015 APTA Annual Conference
The (North) American Public Transportation Association (APTA) held its Annual conference in San Francisco, CA from 3-7 October. The Annual conference typically focuses on the big picture policy and trends of public transport. This year’s event featured much broader and more holistic themes – an exciting development from a systems thinking perspective.
Shoal was represented at the conference by Shaun Wilson who, along with our North America partner Anne O’Neil, throughout the conference met with local transit agencies, systems engineering supporters and the local transportation industry.
A highlight of the conference was the impressive number of plenary topics that reflected on raising the awareness of public transit as an enabler within the broader mobility ecosystem, and as interconnected with delivery of other public services such as healthcare and education, ultimately leading to prosperous communities.
Shoal’s attendance at APTA Annual Conference was very successful in gaining a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities which exist in the North American Public Transport environment. Shoal looks forward to attending the next Annual conference to be held in Los Angeles, CA from 11-14 September 2016.
