Shoal Congratulates CEO on ILF Grant

Congratulations to our CEO, Michael Waite, upon winning a competitive grant from the Industry Leaders Fund (ILF). Michael has been awarded a $16,000 grant to attend the Executive Program for Growing Companies at Stanford Graduate School of Business in the United States.

The ILF provide grants to support current and future South Australian leaders to fast track their development through education. Grants are assessed via a three stage, competitive process, aimed at supporting those with the potential to build their knowledge and share the benefit of their talent and achievement with local industry.

“We are all delighted for Michael,” says Shaun Wilson, company founder. “He has demonstrated technical and business leadership capabilities over an extended period. Winning the grant is testament to the significant contribution he has already made to our business and the further potential he has to grow as a leader, scale operations and facilitate market expansion for Shoal.”

Michael joined Shoal as Systems Engineer in 2009. His responsibilities quickly grew into Programs Manager, Senior Systems Engineer and then Chief Operating Officer, before his appointment to CEO in June this year.

Founded in 2001, Shoal has experienced growth from a small start-up to a medium sized business. In his new role of CEO, Michael provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to anticipate and meet Shoal’s needs in growing the business further. He has a strong focus and commitment to company values and culture, which differentiates Shoal in competitive markets across defence, transport and space sectors.

In awarding Michael’s grant, the ILF said that “The Executive Program for Growing Companies will enhance the ability of Michael, in his newly appointed role as chief executive, to drive growth and employment at Shoal.”

The ‘Executive Program for Growing Companies’ is solely focused on the needs, challenges, and opportunities of fast growth. It will ‘deep dive’ into these concepts, providing Michael with the tools and strategies to enable further success.
