Shoal comes second in class at Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour
Shoal’s motor racing adventure continues into its third year with a positive result in the 2016 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour endurance race.
Joined by racing teams from around the world and professional drivers like V8 Supercar champion Craig Lowndes, Finnish Formula One ace Mika Salo and LeMans 24 Hour winner Earl Bamber, the Shoal sponsored team in the SAFE-T-STOP car crossed the line to place second in Class B and finish 16th overall at the Mt Panorama event.
Represented by Thomson Geer’s Michael O’Donnell and three other drivers in a Porsche 997 GT3, the race was full of heart-stopping moments including a high-speed ‘touch’ from a much more powerful Lamborghini – which resulted in that car spinning off the track – and a low fuel warning light in the last lap.
37,000 enthusiastic ‘petrol-heads’ enjoyed the race day, helping us to celebrate our credible placing in a highly experienced and internationally renowned line-up.
Shoal was thrilled to take part in the race in which McLaren secured their first victory at Australia’s premier international endurance race.
