Shoal continues leadership in Systems Thinking, with six papers accepted for SETE 2024
In pursuit of continued leadership in Systems Thinking, the Shoal Group team has had six papers accepted for Systems Engineering Test & Evaluation (SETE) 2024. The premier conference for the systems engineering profession in Australia, Shoal’s papers address topics aligning with Model-based Systems Engineering and its relationship to research and development, engineering workforce management, mission engineering, business strategy and digital engineering.
“We’ve always been proactive in research, development, and thought leadership, presenting at conferences all over the world, from Australia, to Asia, Europe, and the USA, for over 20 years,” says Shoal CEO, Shaun Wilson. “I am proud of our team, having six papers accepted for SETE 2024.”
Shoal’s papers cover a mix of systems engineering applications across domains, with above and below the line papers relating to Defence, and Energy sectors. They include:
- ‘Aligning Strategy, Research, and System Development through Leveraging Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE),’ authored by Photi Karagiannis.
- ‘Mission Engineering Modelling and Reporting – Lessons from Model-Based Capability Design,’ co-authored by Matthew Wylie, Tommie Liddy and Kristen Coles.
- ‘Measuring MBSE Model Maturity – A Library Supported Approach,’ co-authored by Brett Morris and Derek Rogers, presented by Matthew Wylie.
- ‘An Information Management Framework and its Application for Managing a System Engineering Workforce,’ co-authored by Derek Rogers and Jon Hallett.
- ‘The Case for MBSE in Early-Stage R&D Projects,’ authored by Stephen Cook.
- ‘An Austere Digital Engineering Approach for Energy Decarbonisation,’ co-authored by Mark Unewisse, Stephen Cook, John Wharington, Duane Jusaitis and Ashok Samalam.
Having numerous papers accepted for a single conference is not uncommon for Shoal, who prioritises investment in research and development in the fields of Digital Engineering, including Model-based Systems Engineering and Modelling, Simulation and Analysis. The last time that Shoal had six papers accepted at a single conference was for SETE 2018.
